The Yarn Bases

Pure spun silk is made from short silk fibres that have been spun together to create a smooth, even texture. This silk is taken from the cuccoon after the initial silk is drawn. It is available in different weights and is perfect for knitting and crochet. It is prized for its sheen and durability.

Eri Silk (Ahimsa Silk, Ahimsa Handspun)

Eri Silk comes from NE India, and is silk drawn from the broken cuccoons of the eri silkmoth (Samia ricini). Unlike the silk drawn from the cuccoons of the Bombyx Mori, the moth is safe and away from the cuccoon when the silk is drawn. Hence it is also called Ahimsa Silk or Peace Silk
